EVALUATION OF EFFECTIVENESS OF DESIGNED SPORT DENTAL SPLINTS DURING BOXERS’ TRAINING

The article presents the results of the study of the effectiveness of the developed dental sport splint, the design of which requires occlusion layer thickness of 10 mm between dentitions, which in its front has the perforation according to the width of the crowns of central and lateral upper incisors. Testing the proposed sport dental splint was carried out among 30 boxers aged 18-25 years, with experience playing sports more than 2 years. All these persons were made own and traditional designs of sport dental splints. Efficacy was studied by subjective symptoms (presence of discomfort while using the splint) and objectively (the study of respiratory function using oxyhemometry and color vision using polychromatic cards). It has been found that during exercises using the developed sport dental splint changes the value of oxygen saturation in boxers compared to traditional construction. So, after exercise using traditional splint blood oxygenation index was 92,0±4,6% in comparison 95,0±4,0% by using own design (p ‪ 0,05). Moreover, the indexes obtained using usual design characterize the state of latent hypoxia, while the use of our modification of splint provides normal blood oxygenation. The best results in the application of the developed construction of splint are also recorded during the examination of color in the visual analyzer using polychromatic cards. In the application of the developed splint the percentage of wrong, uncertain responses reduced to 93,3±4,5% from 83,3±6,8% when using traditional construction (p‪0,05). At the same time the speed of color distinction increased during reading cards after exercise, indicating a trend in function of color perception in terms of reduction in blood oxygen saturation. Thus the possibility of false color names excluded: when checking in neutral situations in the name of the color error is not fixed. More information regarding the effectiveness of the developed design of sport dental splint indicate the results of the subjective assessment of athletes. Thus, the use of the traditional splint is definitely unpleasant feelings and hinders the achievement of certain sporting success in 50,0±9,1% of cases, and our proposed – only in 26,7±8,1% (p ‪ 0,05). Also, by monitoring the boxers during exercise it has been found that the threat of injury through real battle due to open his mouth when applying traditional design originated in 66,7±8,6% of cases versus 93,3±4,6% for the developed splint (p ‪ 0,05). So the results of the research proposed that splint reduces the risk of injury of maxillofacial region, provides adequate preservation of respiratory and visual analyzer, moreover it is more comfortable to use. It should be noted that the study of the effectiveness of the proposed design for the training of athletes using functional studies during various physical activities is in the perspective.
