A snow-white smile is the dream of most people, but professional procedures for teeth whitening in dentistry clinics have a high cost, and they do not always have time. Therefore, there is an alternative option – whiten teeth at home. People who are afraid of visits to the dentist, are thinking about how to safely bleach your teeth at home. The procedure for teeth whitening at home is a fairly simple set of measures that can help restore natural teeth whitening. Known tooth whitening recipes that are not a labor-intensive process and allow you to do without expensive medical procedures. Patients (referring to online recommendations) at home often enough to change the color of teeth and their illumination, using such available means as: hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice, baking soda, activated charcoal. However, when using teeth whitening supplements or home-made recipes, one should understand the peculiarities of their effects on solid dental tissues and the possible consequences of such bleaching methods. The purpose of the present study is to assess the clinical implications of various means for home whitening of teeth compared with gel for professional bleaching. For the survey, five groups of patients aged 20-25 years old, who did not have chronic diseases and concomitant pathology, were formed. All patients were divided into 5 groups (10 people each), depending on the type of substance they used at home for teeth whitening. For the first group we chose baking soda. Patients brushed their teeth twice a day for two weeks, adding a small amount of soda to the toothpaste. The second group used activated charcoal. To get a toothpaste paste, 10 tablets of charcoal were cut to each patient and mixed with 100 grams of toothpaste. The third group used lemon juice, patients soaked a toothbrush with paste 2-3 drops of juice. For the fourth group of patients, a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide was selected. During 14 days after brushing the teeth, they rinsed the mouth with a solution of water and peroxide in a ratio of 1 to 1. The control group was brushing teeth professionally in the dentist’s office with a gel “Poledent №3” (Vladmiva) in a day for 10 days. The results of our study showed that the use of professional bleaching is most effective, both in terms of changing the color of the teeth and in preventing the manifestations of hyperesthesia of the hard tissues of the teeth. The most effective method of home bleaching was the use of lemon juice and hydrogen peroxide, but we can not recommend lemon juice as a bleaching agent at home because of the appearance of hyperesthesia.
