One of the stages of pharmacological research of the new gel “Imbirol” containing a complex of essential oils was carried out. It has been proved that the basis of pathogenesis of chemical and bacterial rhinitis has the activation of lipid peroxidation and the reduction of antioxidant activity in injury of mucous layer of nose in experimental model. In case of application of powerful universal treatment with gel “Imbirol” in experimental rhinitis contributes to the normalization of the indicators of the system “peroxidation-antioxidant protection”. “Imbirol” shows pronounced therapeutic antioxidant properties in comparison with the reference preparation “Pinosol”. Thus, the increase in the level of catalase and reduced glutathione in chemical rhinitis was 123.4% in the group with “Imbirol” and 91.6% in the group with “Pinosol”; reduced glutathione increased in the group with “Imbirol” by 166.1% and by 91.9% in the group with “Pinosol”. The effectiveness of the new gel “Imbirol” has a more positive dynamics of prooxidant-antioxidant system recovery of the nasal mucosa during the development of experimental rhinitis and does not differ significantly from the parameters of the reference preparation “Pinosol”. The simulation of chemical and bacterial rhinitis reliably reflected the disturbance of the prooxidant-antioxidant system of the mucous membrane of the nasal passages of rats by increasing thiobarbituric acid and diene conjugates, and decreasing catalase and glutathione even at 12 days of the experiment.
