The Department of Accident and Military Medicine at Higher State Educational Establishment of Ukraine "Ukrainian Medical Stomatological Academy" has been functioning since December 2015. Currently, the issues on material updating, proper methodical provision for educational process organization, self-study and extra-curriculum study and research work, improvement of the existing and development of the novel means, techniques, forms and technologies in the field of accident and military medicine are resolving. While training at the Department of Accident and Military Medicine, future medical and dental professionals have time to form a personal responsibility for security and defense of the country; respect to the Constitution of Ukraine, laws of Ukraine relative to military service; ability to work in challenging tactical environment and consciously fulfill the requirements of the Military Oath, the Statutes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, orders and directives of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine; spiritual and psychological readiness to defend Ukrainian state with weapons in their hands. “Emergency Medicine” subject lays the foundations of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in organizing and conducting medical evacuation, sanitary-hygienic and anti-epidemic measures, including provision with pre-medical assistance in emergency situations of natural and anthropogenic origin and in combat environment. The objectives of the study of the subject are to determine the severity degree of the injured and mastering the skills of provision pre-medical assistance to casualty in conditions of peace and war time. Statistics of the past decades shows that injuries with localization of the wounds in the maxillofacial area account for 4-7% of the total number of casualty. Notably, self-care among injured to the maxillofacial area, even in relatively slight injuries, is rarely feasible due to the difficulty of determining the location and severity of injury, as well as inconvenient conditions, and sometimes due to complete inability to apply the dressing onto the face by the injured himself/herself. Such injuries are often combined with brain injury, eyeballs and ENT-organs injuries. At the same time possible discrepancy between the appearance of the injured and the severity of injuries can be evident due to facial deterioration, hemorrhages, lumps of mud, blood clots, loss of consciousness in the injured. All these can affect the timing and scope of the first medical care, medical assistance, skilled and specialized assistance, provided to the injured in the facial area. We recommend to introduce into "Emergency Medicine" curriculums, studied by dental students, the issues of peculiarities of bleeding arrest in face injuries, transport immobilization for injured and provision of medical aid in thermal, radiation, chemical and combined lesions of the maxillofacial area. Conclusions. Specialization of the "Emergency Medicine" curriculum for dental faculties can significantly improve the quality of practical training of medical professionals with the acquisition of practical skills, as well as the psychological readiness of physicians, dentists, necessary for professional activity in conditions of modern combat and non-combat time.
