Objective. To assess the prevalence and structure of cardiovascular disease risk factors. Methods. The work was performed at the Department of Epidemiology of the Azerbaijan Medical University, from 2014 to 2019. To solve the tasks 200 persons of different ages of male and female were examined. All work was carried out after signing the personal consent of the respondents informed with all questions. The examination included clinical, laboratory, instrumental and statistical methods. At the first stage, after carrying out diagnostic measures, 140 patients with cardiovascular diseases were allocated, among them 80 men and 60 women who made up the main group. The control group included 60 individuals comparable in gender and age to the group of patients in the main group. Gender, age, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, obesity, level of physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption were evaluated. Results. The results showed that the incidence of cardiovascular diseases increases with smoking, alcohol abuse, with an increase in body mass index, with low physical activity. Excessive use of animal-rich foods has been associated with a high prevalence of overweight and obesity; abuse of sugary foods was more often recorded in women – in 26.7% of cases, slightly lower than that in male patients – 23.5% of the case (p <0.05). In patients, both men and women, low physical activity was leading – 60.0% and 76.7% of cases, respectively, a negative history of additional physical activity in the childhood and adolescence – 37.5% and 56.7% of cases excess MT and obesity – 43.8% and 36.7%, as well as subclinical manifestations of anxiety, respectively, 41.3% and 43.3% (p = 0.8634). In women with the studied pathology, unlike men of the same age and diagnosis, low physical activity dominated. Conclusion. The prevention of cardiovascular diseases, due to the very high prevalence of risk factors for their occurrence and development, remains open and still not fully resolved. The implementation of comprehensive targeted programs to reduce the incidence of disease requires the organization of dispensary registration, conducting deep clinical and epidemiological studies on the prevalence and intensity of the incidence and frequency of occurrence of the main risk factors with accurate diagnosis of pathological changes in the organs and tissues of the cardiovascular system under the influence of some pathogenetically important risk factors.
