Treatment and prevention of diseases of the thyroid gland is an important medical and social problem of health care. Despite significant advances in thyroidology, the number of patients with thyroid diseases increases every year. Hypofunction of thyroid gland leads to serious pathological disorders of other organs and systems of the human body. Pharmacological correction of hypothyroid state aimed mainly at restoring thyroid hormone levels using hormone replacement therapy. Current drugs for the treatment of thyroid disease is not universal, because along with the benefits, have several shortcomings such as lack of clinical efficacy, age limits and long-term use can cause side effects. The medicinal plants are the most promising source of biologically active substances of thyroid-stimulating effects. Additional, they are safer and with proper combinations do not give side effects, allowing their use in children, pregnant women and the elderly. One of such herbs used in unconventional medicine for the treatment and prevention of thyroid disease is Feijoa. The aim. Study of the influence of 30% tincture of Feijoa fruits on thyroid synthetic function. Object and methods. The objects of study was 30% tincture of Feijoa fruits. The experiments were conducted on the model of mercazolile-induced hypothyroidism in rats. Thyroid properties of the investigated object were studied at dose of 1.0 ml. After the experiment animals were sacrificed by immediate decapitation, blood was collected and measured levels of thyroid hormone – triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxin (T4) in blood plasma by using enzyme multiplied immunoassay test kits. Results. The experimental data showed that the use of thyreostatics led to changes in the weight of the body of experimental animals. On the 12th day of the experiment in animals of the CK group and animals of group 3-5, an increase in body weight was observed on average by 26.6% on average, and body weight gain in animals of the IC group was 35% of the baseline. Also, mercazolile led to an increase in size and mass of thyroid gland by 3 times compared with the IC group. The development of the hypothyroid state was also confirmed by changes in rectal temperature by 10 days in rats treated with thyrostatics, which was manifested by its steady decrease in all phases of the temperature rhythm by an average of 1.5°C compared with the IC group. The use of Mercazolil resulted in a decrease in the synthetic thyroid function, which was manifested in reducing the level of thyroid hormones. In the group of animals, which received the TFF with the introduction of Mercazolile, the body weight gain at the end of the experiment was 43.8% versus 85.6% in the IC group. The use of TFF resulted in a probable reduction in the size of the thyroid and its mass in 1,2 times compared with the group of CP, indicating the presence of an antigoiterogenic effect in the test tincture. The introduction of TFF during 21 day led to a statistically significant increase in rectal temperature in all phases of the daily rhythm to the level of IC. The course of administration of TFF contributed to the normalization of the functional state of thyroid and to the increase of its synthetic function, which was manifested in increase of T4 and T3 levels by 1.7 and 1.3 times, respectively, compared with the CP group. Conclusions. The introduction of TFF had a corrective effect on the hypothyroid state of the thyroid gland, as evidenced by an increase in rectal temperature, a decrease in goiterogenic action of mercazolile and a possible increase in the level of thyroid hormones in serum of experimental animals.
