THE STUDY OF STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL CONDITION OF BONE TISSUE IN CHILDREN WITH DECOMPENSATED FORM OF CARIES

Annotation:

The article presents the results of ultrasonic densitometry studies of the structural and functional condition of bone tissue in children with decompensated form of caries on a background of gastrointestinal tract diseases. The main parameters were determined: the speed of ultrasound propagation through the bone (SPS, m/s), broadband attenuation of ultrasound (BAU, dB/MHz) and the bone tissue strength index (BTSI, %). The study involved 92 children aged 6-15 years, of which two groups were formed. After studying the parameters of the structural and functional state of bone tissue (SFSBT) it was found that in children of the main group, the average value of SPS was 1492±4.20 m/s, which was significantly less than the data of the comparison group – 1522±4.90 m/c, p <0.001.The average values of BAU in children of the main group were slightly lower than the data in the comparison group – 117.16±2.42 vs. 120.50±2.39 dB/MHz, respectively, p <0.05. It was found that the values of BTSI in children of the main group significantly exceeded the data in comparison – 76.01±1.58 vs. 86.57±1.60%, respectively, p <0.01. As a result of the conducted research it was established that at the age of 6-9 years the values of SFСBT indicators were maximum in both groups of the study, but in the children of the main group they were lower in relation to the data of the comparison group. Summing up our research, we note that the decrease in the parameters of the structural and functional state of bone tissue in children with decompensated form of caries on the background of pathology of the gastrointestinal tract was observed with age, which is probably related to the duration of somatic comorbidities of the gastrointestinal tract.
