In recent years, the paradigm for providing care to patients from medical to biopsychosocial has changed in Ukraine. This approach should promote the reintegration of people with disabilities into society, creating an accessible environment for them to function and live. Just such an approach is the basis of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). With the help of ICF it is possible to clearly reflect the state of health at certain age stages of human life and in various diseases. Among the professional competencies that are insufficiently mastered by students majoring in 227 «Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy» is the organization of activities related to the application of the ICF criteria of the structure and function of the body. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of methodological approaches to assessing the level of knowledge of students in the discipline «Models of rehabilitation services based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health”. The study involved 79 second-year bachelor’s students majoring in 227 «Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy», who in order to assess the depth of mastering the material in this discipline were offered three ways to assess patients according to the ICF. The first method involved solving situational problems, the second – the need to decipher the IFF codes and establish a rehabilitation diagnosis, and the third – to assess the origin of pain with the choice of one or more dysfunctions. Only 37.1±1.8% were able to clearly identify violations of the structure, changes in functions – 49.9±1.3% (p˂0.05), and a decrease in activity and participation was set at 56.1±1.3% (p˂0.01) students. Also, significant difficulties arose in deciphering the encoded functions of the body and determining their degree (b7301, b730.4), which coped with only 40.5% of students. Such results are probably due to insufficient knowledge of students in functional anatomy, clinical medicine.
