Abstract. The internationalization of the world space contributes to the steady growth of demand in the international market of educational services. Ukraine is no exception. According to official data, the number of foreign applicants for higher education in Ukraine is estimated at thousands and continues to increase. The most popular areas of training for several years in a row are medicine, pharmacology, avionics and missile technology, applied physics and nanotechnology, research in the field of nuclear energy, agronomy, biology and genetics. An important component of the intensification of the processes of internationalization of higher education in Ukraine was the establishment of the Ukrainian State Center for International Education, which performs a coordinating, advisory function in the selection and further support of foreign students. Despite the openness and accessibility of the conditions for admission and study of foreign students, there are several limiting factors. It is through their elimination that this article is devoted. Among the challenges faced by international students in Ukraine, there are a language barrier between teachers and students, difficulties in the building of social contacts. Moreover, difficulties for the international students in offline learning caused by quarantine restrictions. We consider effective ways of improving the current situation by conducting a compulsory language exam for entrants and strengthening the requirements for their basic training; comprehensive support for the work of foreign student societies and intercultural cooperation activities, implementation of distance learning platforms. Kharkiv National Medical University has implemented and actively uses the modern distance education platform Moodle, which provides students with unlimited access to online courses developed by university teachers to ensure the educational process. Implementation of mentioned approaches will help to improve the learning process of international students in higher education institutions of Ukraine, create an atmosphere of benevolence and openness and, as a result, a positive image of Ukrainian universities in the international market for educational services.
