The article presents data on the possibility of using the method of skin galvanic reaction, as an alternative to questionnaires and tests to determine the psychological state of the patient. After all, according to numerous studies, anxiety and fear at the dental reception are felt by 70 to 90% of patients. Detection, prevention and treatment of stress requires the availability of methods for their diagnosis, the development of which is impossible without the study of various objective and subjective indicators of these conditions. All currently available methods for testing levels of anxiety and stress are to some extent subjective, as they are based on the criteria of self-assessment of a person’s condition, which, as we know, is not always adequate. In addition, all tests and questionnaires take a long time. In this regard, psychophysiologists are studying the objective physiological manifestations of anxiety and stress. Among them, due to the objectivity of the method, the skin galvanic reaction is of interest. The paper describes for the first time the method of conducting this study in dentistry, namely in maxillofacial surgery, as well as derived indicators of the norm in healthy patients depending on the level of anxiety. The paper describes for the first time the method of conducting this study in dentistry, namely in maxillofacial surgery, as well as derived indicators of the norm in healthy patients depending on the level of anxiety. Thus, we can conclude that for a high level of anxiety SGR values are in the range of 1.10-1.4, for moderate – from 0.75 to 1.0, and for low – 0.45-0.7. Depending on the type of temperament, the severity of personal and situational anxiety is different, it is a property of temperament and a combination of extraversion and emotional stability is characteristic of sanguine, extraversion and emotional instability for choleric, introversion and emotional stability – phlegmatic, introversion and emotional instability – melancholic. The development of a database of normative indicators of skin galvanic response, as the most reliable indicator of the level of psycho-emotional stress should be considered as a component of a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s psychophysiological condition. In the future, this technique can be used for individual correction of the patient’s psycho-emotional state. The derived baseline indicators of the subjects may be the basis for further study of skin-galvanic reaction in patients before dental treatment.
